Clints of Dromore

By In Short Films

The Clints of Dromore are a small series of crags part of the Cairnsmore of Fleet nature reserve. It lies in the heart of Galloway, Scotland, near Newton Stewart. The bike journey to Cairsmore and the panoramic views from the top of the crags brought to mind the song “The Gael Northwest” by Dougie and Jamie MacLean.

This mood piece was created as part of a portfolio for an application to The Royal Conservatiore of Scotland. My focus was placed on capturing the feelings one has while climbing the crags, and timing the footage to the rythem and pacing of the music.

Due to the limitations of Covid-19 I created the video entirely on my own. My only company while filming were the goats which live in the Clints of Dromore.

I was fortunate in that I was allowed to use my first choice in music by obtaining permission to use the song from Jenny MacLean. Below are the official song credits.
